In Turkish cuisine, baklava is traditionally made by filling between the layers of dough with pistachios, walnuts or almonds. And trust us, this combination with ice cream will take you to a different experience!
London Dairy Pralines & Cream Ice cream
Honey + Water + Orange Blossom Syrup
Start with part-melting London Dairy’s Pralines & Cream. If needed, place it into a food processor and blitz until it’s malleable. Spread the melted ice cream evenly into a tin/mold and freeze it for at least 3 hours, or overnight.
When ready to make the baklava, place pistachios, walnuts, pecan nuts and almonds into a food processor and blitz until fine.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and unroll filo sheets and cut them into circles. Keep a damp cloth handy to place over the sheets while making the baklava to prevent the filo drying out.
Grease a flat baking tray with melted butter and begin stacking the filo sheets to create the baklava base. Place one sheet, brush with butter, sprinkle chopped nuts. Repeat the process until 4 layers are formed. Bake them for 15 minutes or until golden on top. Good job!
Now while the filo bakes, let’s utilize these 15 minutes to create a sugar syrup – mix honey with water and orange blossom water.
Time to move on to assembling once done! Take the ice cream out of the freezer, cut out cute little circles and place them between two baklava sheets. Finally pour the honey-water syrup over your baklavas and sprinkle those yummy-crunchy nuts for added texture!
